The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has strongly rejected allegations that it was involved in the alleged leakage of results from the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination, describing the claim as false and damaging.
The Board said the allegation, which was reportedly made during a programme on a popular radio station in Ibadan, was not only unfounded but capable of misleading members of the public and tarnishing the reputation of its leadership.
According to OYOSUBEB, it had absolutely no role in the setting, production, handling or administration of the examination questions.
It therefore challenged anyone linking the Board, its Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, or its officials to the alleged leakage to provide evidence to substantiate the claim.
The Board maintained that Adeniran’s administration had consistently operated on the principles of transparency, accountability and professionalism, stressing that it would not allow what it described as speculative or unverified allegations to undermine its reputation.
OYOSUBEB further clarified that complaints relating to the conduct, administration or outcome of the Common Entrance Examination should be directed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which it identified as the appropriate authority overseeing the examination.
The Board urged journalists and broadcasters to exercise greater caution when reporting allegations, stressing that the media’s watchdog role must be balanced with accuracy, fairness and verification.
It also issued a stern warning to the radio station, its presenters and other media platforms against what it described as defamatory broadcasts and smear campaigns.
OYOSUBEB said it was prepared to deploy every lawful means, including legal action, to defend the reputation of Adeniran and the institution.
The Board, however, said the controversy would not distract it from its core responsibility of strengthening basic education across Oyo State.
It urged parents, candidates and members of the public to disregard unverified claims and obtain information concerning the Common Entrance Examination directly from the appropriate authorities.
