Oyo primaries: Kasali wins APC ticket for Kajola constituency

Fakayode Afolabi Kasali has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to represent the people of Kajola State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

He scored a total of 2,623 votes to defeat other aspirants in the keenly contested primary election conducted across the 11 wards in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The current member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Azeez Musibau, came second with 1,613 votes, while Tairu Muibi polled 258 votes. Dr Gbolasere E. Abigail recorded 83 votes.

Other aspirants, including Dr Dayo Olarewaju, Simeon Adejumo and Tijani Sakiru, scored zero votes in the primary.

The total valid votes recorded in the election stood at 4,576 from the 11 wards in Kajola Local Government Area.

Declaring the result, the returning officer for Kajola Local Government, Gbadamosi Adeoye, announced Kasali as the winner of the primary election, having secured the highest number of votes cast.

The final declaration was witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representative, Owonikoko Semiu, as well as the designated security officer, Onidele Iseyin.
