Oyo Police begin forensic analysis of viral abduction video, assure safe rescue of victims

The Oyo State Police Command has commenced forensic analysis of a viral video linked to the recent abduction incident in the state as part of ongoing efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

In a press statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command disclosed that the footage circulating across various media platforms is currently undergoing comprehensive examination to determine its authenticity and assist investigators in tracking down the perpetrators.

The police said the forensic process would support ongoing investigations, intelligence gathering, rescue operations, and the identification and arrest of individuals connected with the crime.

Reaffirming its commitment to the safe return of the abducted persons, the Command stated that intensive operational, tactical, and intelligence-driven efforts are being carried out in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the victims are rescued unharmed.

“The Command reassures residents of its unwavering commitment towards ensuring the safe return and reunification of all abducted persons with their families,” the statement read.

The police further appealed to residents of Oyo State to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid ongoing operations and investigations.

The Command also cautioned members of the public against circulating unverified reports or misleading content capable of escalating tension and creating panic, warning that criminal elements often exploit such situations to advance their objectives.

According to the statement, individuals with useful information relating to the incident or the whereabouts of the perpetrators are encouraged to promptly report to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities for immediate action.

The police reiterated that no effort would be spared in ensuring the victims are safely reunited with their families and that all those connected to the incident are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
