Rape-Of-Minor

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man, Peter Adubi, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade disclosed this in a Friday statement.

Ayanlade said the arrest followed a report made on January 8, 2026, at about 8:50pm by the minor’s guardian, who noticed strange and unusual behavioural changes of a sexual nature in the minor and, upon gentle questioning, the minor disclosed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while living with her mother in the Molade area of Ibadan.

The statement reads, “Upon receipt of the report, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the offence during that period.

“This disclosure provided the basis for immediate medical intervention to establish the facts of the case.

“Consequently, the minor was taken to the hospital for medical examination, where findings confirmed sexual abuse.

“This medical evidence strengthened the case against the suspect and guided the next steps in the investigation.”

As a result, the suspect, Peter Adubi, was taken into custody, the police spokesman said.

Ayanlade added that the crime scene was visited, and the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Gender Desk, for discreet and thorough investigation.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, as appreciating the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his exemplary leadership and guidance, which continue to inspire the command in its pursuit of justice and protection of vulnerable members of society.

“The command assures the good people of Oyo State that justice will be diligently pursued.

“Citizens are strongly urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any incidents of sexual abuse, as community cooperation remains vital in safeguarding our children and ensuring a safer society,” the statement further reads.
