Oyo police arrest 17-year-old over defilement of 3-year-old girl

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male, Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

According to the statement, the incident was reported at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17, at about 6:00 p.m., after the child reportedly went missing while she was being picked up from school earlier that afternoon.

The statement said a search was subsequently conducted in the area, leading to the recovery of the child by the roadside in a distressed condition.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicated that the suspect allegedly took the child by force into his apartment, where the alleged sexual assault occurred.

Following the discovery, detectives visited and secured the location of the alleged crime, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of physical evidence said to be connected with the incident.

The police said the child was immediately taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving medical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.

The Command said the case had been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.

It reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against child abuse and sexual violence, assuring that the privacy and dignity of the child and her family would be protected in line with the Child Rights Act and established protection guidelines.

The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of violence against children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
