The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has appointed a former Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, as the Director-General of his campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The appointment was announced in a statement personally signed by Alli on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
According to Alli, Aderibigbe was chosen because of his reputation as a selfless political leader with a long record of grassroots mobilisation and people-oriented leadership.
He stated that the former council chairman has remained closely connected to the grassroots since his tenure in Akinyele Local Government Area, adding that Aderibigbe has maintained an unwavering commitment to the welfare of ordinary people.
Alli charged him to bring his wealth of experience, tested leadership credentials and deep understanding of Oyo State politics to bear in coordinating the APC’s campaign activities across the state.

Describing Aderibigbe, a former Special Adviser on Transport during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, as one of the pillars of progressive politics in Oyo State, Alli commended his contributions to the state’s political, social and economic development.
He also described the new campaign DG as a loyal party leader, bridge-builder and mentor whose commitment to the growth of the APC and the development of younger politicians has remained exemplary.
“We have chosen him to lead, organise and mobilise members of our great party and the people of the state to work for the success of the APC at the polls.
“As an experienced administrator with an impeccable record of public service and a committed progressive, I am confident Aderibigbe’s leadership qualities will strengthen our party’s campaign.
“As a team player, I have no doubt that he will excel in this assignment by effectively coordinating the campaign council alongside other distinguished leaders and members of our great party,” Alli stated.
