The Oyo State Government has announced the introduction of a new digital system for building and survey plan approvals, a major step toward improving transparency and efficiency in urban development processes.
The Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, disclosed this on Monday during a meeting with all zonal directors of town planning offices across the state, held at the Ministry’s Conference Room.
In his address, Akin-Funmilayo described the initiative as a landmark reform in urban management and infrastructural regulation, noting that the new system would eliminate the loopholes and irregularities associated with manual operations.
According to him, the digital platform is designed to enhance transparency, traceability, and accountability in the approval process. It will replace the traditional manual system with a fully automated and secure platform equipped with barcodes that generate and validate every approved document.
“The era of inefficiency and compromise among planning officials is over,” the Commissioner declared, adding that the present administration will no longer tolerate excuses but expects tangible results that reflect the government’s investment in modernization.

Akin-Funmilayo also directed task forces and enforcement departments under the Physical Planning arm of the ministry to intensify monitoring operations and clamp down on developers or individuals violating planning regulations.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through strict compliance with planning laws and adherence to approved construction standards.
The Commissioner further assured residents that the new digital system will enable applicants to process building approvals from anywhere in the world, saving time and eliminating the need for intermediaries or unofficial dealings.
He urged property owners and developers to embrace the reform, assuring them that the digitalized process would be user-friendly, efficient, and free of corruption.
