A former Director of Finance and Accounts at the Federal Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli (AWA), has declared his intention to contest the Oyo Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made at a mobilisation summit held in Eleekara, Afijio Local Government Area of the state, where 11 local government and 118 ward coordinators were inaugurated.
Alli, who unveiled a grassroots structure of 129 coordinators, said his ambition is driven by a commitment to effective representation that would leverage on over three decades of experience in public service.
“I stand before you not as a stranger, but as someone who understands how the government works and how to attract development,” he said.
Alli pledged legislative advocacy, strategic oversight, and improved outcomes in infrastructure, youth employment, agriculture, and healthcare.
He aligned his agenda with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope framework, describing it as key to national transformation.
Director-General of the mobilisation network, Mogaji Bola Akinyemi, described Alli as competent and principled, while other stakeholders urged coordinators to intensify grassroots engagement.
A profile presented at the event mentioned Alli’s roles across key federal institutions and his contributions to the National Social Investment Programme.
He was also credited with philanthropic efforts through the AWA Foundation. The event drew political leaders, community stakeholders, and supporters.
