…As Oba Adegbola honours Ayandeles, Atandas

Political differences gave way to unity in Eruwa, Oyo State, as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) converged on the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, to mark his first coronation anniversary.
The event featured the conferment of traditional titles on prominent Ibarapaland figures. In a rare display of cross-party conviviality, politicians exchanged pleasantries and joined traditional dancers.
Royal honours were bestowed on Dr. Olusola Ayandele (Eruobodo) and his wife, Dr. Folayimika Ayandele, as well as Chief Adewale Atanda (Alase) and his wife.
Oba Adegbola conferred the titles of Aare Bobagunwa and Yeye Aare Bobagunwa of Ibarapaland on the Ayandeles. The honours came days after the Onidere of Idere, Oba Kingsley Onikola, installed them as Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju of Idere.
Meanwhile, Atanda and his wife were also installed as Otunba and Yeye Otunba of Ibarapaland.
Political leaders present included Oyo Assembly Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin; former deputy governor and Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo; the 2027 APM governorship candidate, Abimbola Adekanmbi; former APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Olayide Abas; Executive Director of the South West Development Commission(SWDC), Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle; and Alhaja Bose Adedibu, wife of the late strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
Royal fathers in attendance included the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye; Olu-Aso of Iberekodo, Oba Adedamola Badmus; and Onidere of Idere, Oba Kingsley Onikola.
Speaking on the occasion, Ogundoyin, who noted that traditional titles carry heavy responsibilities, urged the new chiefs to view their elevation as a call to advance the growth, peace, and prosperity of Ibarapaland.
Oba Adegbola stated that the conferment was an opportunity to recognise individuals whose contributions have brought pride to the region. He added that event was part of activities marking his first coronation anniversary.
