Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke, has promised to end the prolonged electricity crisis in Ibarapa with a solar farm dedicated to powering the zone if elected governor in 2027.
Adegoke, who spoke in Igbo-Ora during a thank-you visit to Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, said the project would reduce the area’s dependence on the national grid and provide more reliable electricity for homes and businesses.
He said improved power supply would stimulate economic activities and enhance security across Ibarapa.

The ADC candidate also promised greater involvement of traditional rulers in grassroots security, alongside agricultural support for farmers through modern equipment, high-yield seeds and cooperative loans.
Adegoke, who studied Agricultural Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said his administration would prioritise measures to improve farm productivity and farmers’ incomes.
Earlier, ADC Youth Leader in Ibarapa Central, Ayodele Olanlere, urged the candidate to prioritise electricity, jobs, healthcare and education.
Olanlere welcomed the proposed solar project, saying stable electricity remained a major need of communities in the zone.
