A growing number of authors are emerging from church pulpits to national and international bookstands, and Rev. Dr. Olu Johnson Oyekunbi, the General Overseer and Senior Pastor of The Great Commission Bible Church, Lagos, Nigeria, is among those making their mark in Christian literature.
An accountant turned preacher, Oyekunbi is a biblical expositor known for his deep insight into the Word of God. He has been writing and publishing books on Christendom for over two decades. Recently, the cleric turned 58 and as part of activities marking his birthday, Oyekunbi held the presentation of his new book titled ‘Audacity of Grace’. The event was part of a prayer conference focused on national rebirth, kingdom alignment, and financial dominion.
The birthday celebration also featured the cutting of the birthday cake and photo sessions with friends, well-wishers, and family members. Special remarks were delivered by representatives of the Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and by the National President of Renewed Ministers of Nigeria, Bishop Stephen Adegoke. The highlight of the event was the distribution of free copies of another of his books, ‘Get Up & Stand Out’ to participants.
Ahead of the celebration, Oyekunbi, also the International President of United Global Churches Association of Nations, UGCAN, and founder of Olu Johnson Ministry International, also hosted a one-day Audacity Conference under the aegis of UGCAN. The conference drew teachers, leaders, life coaches, and development experts from various walks of life.
Oyekunbi has authored over 12 titles, including the best-selling ‘Time And Purpose’. Through his writing, ministry, and leadership at UGCAN and Olu Johnson Ministry International, Oyekunbi continues to contribute to Christian teaching and leadership development both in Nigeria and abroad. His international crusades have also been platforms for teaching and outreach. He previously served as the Nigerian Director of Morris Cerullo World Evangelism.
