Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has formally dissolved the State Executive Council (EXCO), comprising Commissioners and Special Advisers, the highest decision-making body of the State.

The development precedes the inauguration of his second term in office billed to hold on Friday, October 16.

The dissolution, however, did not affect the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, the Chief of Staff, Mr Niyi Adebayo and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode.

The Governor announced the dissolution at a valedictory session with members of the State Executive Council held at the EXCO Chamber, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, on Monday.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode, the dissolution is part of the administrative process of winding down the first-term administration, which ends on Thursday, October 15.

Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to members of the cabinet for their meritorious service and contributions to the development of the State, noting that the government and people of Ekiti State owed them a debt of gratitude for their commitment and selfless service.

The Governor particularly expressed appreciation to God for graciously preserving the lives of all the cabinet members, adding that he did not take that grace for granted.

At the valedictory session preceding the dissolution, the Commissioners and Special Advisers took turns to thank the Governor for the opportunity to serve in his administration. They also reflected on their experiences as members of the State’s highest decision-making body.

The cabinet members commended the Governor’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to the development of Ekiti State, pledging to continue contributing to its progress in other capacities.

Governor Oyebanji was first inaugurated as Governor of Ekiti State on October 16, 2022. Following his re-election on June 20, 2026, his second-term inauguration is scheduled to hold on Friday, October 16, at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti.
