As LabRad Diagnostics Center’s nomination for Radiology Service Provider of the Year at the 12th Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA) 2026 draws attention to Owerri’s diagnostic imaging landscape, focus has turned to the technology behind the recognition: a 1.5T MRI in Owerri and 160-slice CT scan in Owerri, among the more advanced imaging tools available at a diagnostic center in Imo State.
The NHEA nomination, themed around “Innovation, Local Manufacturing and Digital Transformation in Healthcare,” highlights organizations investing in modern equipment to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
Dr. Chinekwu Anyanwu, Medical Director of LabRad Diagnostics Center, said the nomination reflected years of investment in imaging infrastructure and clinical training. “Our focus has always been on giving patients access to the same standard of diagnostic imaging available in larger healthcare markets abroad, right here in Owerri,” she said.
General Manager Chitoo Ikedionu added that the center’s comprehensive health checkup packages are designed around this imaging capacity, allowing physicians across Imo State to refer patients for detailed radiological assessments without traveling outside the state.
The NHEA has for over a decade recognized hospitals, diagnostic centers, and health technology organizations shaping healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
