Ovia South-West chairman takes grassroots drive to traditional rulers, communities

Chairman of Ovia South-West Local Government Council, Anthony Osarobo, has taken his administration’s grassroots engagement to traditional rulers and communities, seeking their support and cooperation in driving development across the council area.

Osarobo, accompanied by members of his executive council, commenced the familiarisation tour at Udo, his home community, where he visited the Iyase of Udo, Patrick Igbinidu.

Describing the engagement as a “thank-you visit,” the chairman said it was important to return to the community following his assumption of office to appreciate the people and seek the prayers, support and cooperation of the traditional institution and residents.

Responding, Igbinidu welcomed Osarobo and urged him to ensure that development programmes reached all parts of Ovia South-West. He also prayed for a successful tenure for the chairman.

The delegation later proceeded to Iguobazuwa, the council headquarters, where Osarobo was received by the Odionwere and elders of the community.

The chairman said the visit was intended to formally introduce his administration to the community and solicit its support and prayers.

Odionwere of Iguobazuwa, Igbinovia Edward, congratulated Osarobo on his assumption of office and prayed for the success of his administration.

At Usen, the chairman was received by residents before proceeding to the palace of the traditional ruler, Oba Olougbe II.

Osarobo said the engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen relations between the council and traditional institutions and to appreciate their support for his administration.

The monarch commended the initiative and offered royal blessings for Osarobo’s tenure.

The familiarisation tour is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the council administration, traditional institutions and communities in the pursuit of grassroots development across Ovia South-West.
