SQI College of ICT has awarded scholarships worth a remarkable ₦850 million to more than 8,500 Africans, enabling them to pursue professional ICT training in high-demand tech fields.

This initiative is part of the institution’s broader commitment to fostering digital literacy and equipping the continent’s youth with globally relevant tech skills.

The scholarships were granted through the Annual SQI Scholarship Program, which ran from July 5th to early August 2025.

This year’s edition recorded unprecedented participation and impact, thanks to the unwavering support of vital partners, including the Oyo State Government (via the Commissioner for Youth and Sports), SQI Alumni, Edozzier, and other valued stakeholders.

Focused on expanding access to quality tech education, the program targets driven and passionate individuals particularly those from underserved communities and backgrounds who may not have the financial means to pursue a formal ICT education.

Through this effort, SQI is not only empowering individual students but also helping to build the next generation of tech leaders across Africa.

“This year, we received over 18,000 applications from 35 countries across Africa and beyond. Over 8,000 applicants sat for the scholarship test, and have now been selected to study courses including Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Product Design, and more,” said Mr. Oluwaseyi Odekomaya, Academic Director at SQI College of ICT.

Among the beneficiaries, 16 exceptional candidates were awarded full scholarships, covering 100% of their tuition fees. Thousands more received partial scholarships, dramatically reducing the financial burden and making quality tech education more accessible than ever before.

Speaking during Tech Talk, a radio program broadcast in Ogbomoso, Dr. Adegbenro Sunday Ajani, Rector of SQI College of ICT, encouraged the scholarship recipients to fully embrace the opportunity:

“This is a rare chance to build a meaningful and rewarding career in tech. Make the most of all the resources and training that SQI offers. We can’t wait to see the future you will create and the impact you will make as part of our alumni network.”

The new scholarship cohort begins training on August 4th, joining a global learning community of over 100,000 students enrolled across SQI’s various campuses and programs.

With students drawn from more than 30 Nigerian states and 8 other countries, and with alumni now working across Europe, North America, and Africa’s leading tech hubs, SQI College of ICT is cementing its role in driving Africa’s digital transformation.

“You’ve successfully passed the scholarship screening, and we’re incredibly proud of your achievement. This is just the beginning. We believe in your potential and can’t wait to see how far you’ll go,” said Mr. Adeyemi C. Adeyemi, Director at SQI College of ICT.

A Vision for Africa’s Tech Future
SQI’s impact continues to grow, aligning with its mission of making Africa a global reservoir of tech talent. With a strong emphasis on innovation, hands-on learning, and mentorship, the college is helping to close the digital skills gap and redefine what’s possible for youth across the continent.
