Over 69m, 210 bags of rice shared as Sokoto Govt consoles banditry victims

The Sokoto State Government has disbursed over 69 million and distributed 210 bags of rice to families affected by recent bandit attacks in Kware and Gwadabawa Local Government Areas.

 

Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who led a condolence visit to the communities, described the killings as “unfortunate and inhumane,” assuring victims’ families of his administration’s continued support.

 

As part of the relief package, the governor announced that each family of those killed would receive N2 million and five bags of rice, while each of the injured would be given N250,000 and three bags of rice.

 

Official records show that 22 people were killed and four injured in Kware, while 11 lives were lost and another 11 sustained injuries in Gwadabawa.

 

The Governor vowed that his government would continue to back security agencies in the fight against banditry but warned against the activities of informants, who he described as “more dangerous than the bandits themselves.”

 

“Our community and religious leaders have a critical role to play in sensitizing people on the dangers of harboring informants and the need to expose them, urging residents to support collective efforts aimed at restoring peace in the state.

 

Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Kware, and House Leader, Hon. Bello Idris, both commended the governor’s gesture, noting that it brought comfort to bereaved and injured families.

 

The condolence visit was attended by prominent figures including Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Deputy Governor Idris Muhammed Gobir, Minister of State for Works Barrister Bello Goronyo and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Tukur Bala Bodinga,

 

Others are former Deputy Governor Barrister Mukhtar Shagari, APC State Chairman Isa Saddiq Achida, Secretary to the State Government Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff Aminu Haliru Dikko mni, State Head of Service Sulaiman S. Fulani, Amb. Sahabi Isa Gada mni, Amb. Abubakar Shehu Wurno, Senator Salihu Bakwai, commissioners, special advisers, senior aides, security representatives, business leaders, and politicians, among others.
