The Kogi State governorship contest appears tougher by the day as over 40 former state assembly members have vowed to truncate the perceived political dynasty of the state governor, Yahaya Bello.

They noted that it was time for all and sundry to join hands with them to salvage the confluence state from the maladministration of Governor Bello.

Leading the pack, was a former Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba who told journalists yesterday in Abuja that Kogi State had become a shadow of itself because of the high-handedness and dictatorial tendency of the current administration.

He alleged that some of the former lawmakers have not received their constitutional severance package since they left office because of their stance against the current administration.

Achuba stressed that the only political heavyweight to defeat the leading All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11 poll, was the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.

Also, a former lawmaker, Simon Atagoga, said: “The former Kogi State House of Assembly members from the three senatorial district of the state have resolved and unequivocally taken a stand with the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hon. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.

“Our decision to identify with your aspiration and candidature is informed by the several obvious facts. We unanimously believe that you have the capacity, tenacity and courage to salvage the state from maladministration and misrule of the current regime and re-position the state to its envious pride of place among the comity of other states in the Federation.

“We believe in your capacity in righting the wrongs done to the state and the people these past eight years by providing pro-people governance.”
