The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that its national convention in Ibadan is sacrosanct despite a recent court order halting the convergence.
Addressing journalists after the party’s stakeholders meeting in Abuja, the Chairman of the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) and Adamawa Governor, Umar Fintiri, harped on the importance of the gathering.
“We’ve just come out of our critical stakeholders meeting, where a lot of elaborate decisions were taken.
“I want to tell you here that we are going to Ibadan for our convention and the convention is sacrosanct,” Fintiri stated.

Stakeholders who attended the meeting included members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the National Working Committee (NWC), and the Board of Trustees, among others.
Conflicting reports trail the 2025 Elective National Convention of the PDP. Last week, an Oyo High Court ordered the PDP and its National Chairman to go ahead with the convention.
However, a High Court in Abuja stopped the party from holding the convention a few days later, requesting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not supervise the convention or recognise it.
