From Tony Osauzo, Benin
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Edo Central Senatorial District, Okoeghale Eugene, has promised to campaign on issues and not on individuals.
In an interview, he said he was confident of victory and was not concerned that Governor Monday Okpebholo hails from Edo Central.
Okoeghale said his campaign would not discredit anyone but would present the party’s blueprint to voters. He said the electorate had moved beyond sentiment and was now looking at individuals with capacity and something to offer.
According to him, voters are no longer swayed by money that is gone within two days. They are asking whether a candidate can deliver for them, and he believes Edo Central is looking in that direction.
Okoeghale said he would not single out any opponent, but claimed the party’s plans would show that those currently speaking have not performed.
