Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state, polling 116,038 votes as the sole aspirant.
The result was announced on Friday night by Samuel Yanap, chairman of the APC electoral panel for the state primaries. Yanap said the exercise was peaceful across all 18 local government areas and 196 wards in the state.
Otu thanked party members for their support and said his administration had laid the foundation for a stronger economy.

He urged winners to show humility and appealed to those who lost to remain loyal to the party and join efforts to develop the state. He also warned against defection, noting that he had experienced it in the past and did not consider it advisable.
“Let us stay focused and work together for Cross River,” Otu said after the announcement.
Yanap also announced winners for the three senatorial, eight House of Representatives and 25 state assembly tickets.
