Political appointees of Governor Alex Otti from the Ukwa la Ngwa zone have cautioned politicians in the state against using ethnic sentiments to malign the Governor and people of the zone, urging them to instead support the state government’s development agenda

The 85 political appointees of Ukwa La Ngwa extraction serving in the Governor Otti administration stated this at a press conference in Umuahia.

Speaking, the leader of the appointees and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Caleb Ajagba, said the appointees came together to debunked the negative narratives and clannish sentiments they have observed going on in the state against the Governor because he resolved to demystify governance and lead Abia with transparency and accountability.

“It is important we underscore this; every Abian, every Nigerian including those in the international community could attest to the situation of Abia State before the advent of the Alex Otti administration.

“He (Gov. Otti) has demystified governance. The only crime he has committed is that he has vowed that the resources accruing to Abia State must be used for the development of Abia State,” Ajagba stated.

The Chief of Staff argued that three years would not be sufficient to address the consequences many years of poor governance and misrule in the state, adding that, those accusing the Governor and fighting against good governance in Abia were those that actually left Abia into ruins .

He said they kept criticising the current administration while it worked to address the problems inherited from them in the previous governments.

“A government that came to correct maladministration and address the rot of the past cannot begin to dissipate its energy responding to people who created the problems.

“It will be a kind of disfigured expectation and misplaced priority for anyone to expect that, within many years of what Abia has passed through, three years would be enough to fix it.

“The same set of people who created the problem are the people who are now pointing accusing fingers at His Excellency, who is trying to address the maladministration that Abia faced over the past 24 years,” Ajagba stated.

He said the future of Abia State and the collective interests of its citizens should not be sacrificed for the benefit of a few politicians.

The Chief of Staff, who assured that the administration remains focused on its development agenda and would continue to discharge its responsibilities to the people of the state, explained that the press conference was convened to clarify misleading narratives against the administration.
