Otti inaugurates ABSU Governing Council, hammers on institution’s transformation

Governor Alex Otti has inaugurated the Governing Council of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), tasking members on institution’s transformation.

The new Governing Council has a former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council.

Speaking while Inaugurating the Council, Governor Otti challenged members of the Council to make the University one of the best universities in Nigeria.

He described the current times in ABSU and Abia State in general as an interesting times, saying that the members of the Council were chosen as they were found as one of those that would drive the transformation his administration is pursuing.

“These are interesting times for our University and without sounding immodest, I must say that for you to have found yourself as one of the people that would change this transformation, you are all outstanding.

“So, we have no doubt that you will do your best to change our University to one of the best universities in Nigeria, in fact Africa”, Governor Otti stated.

He congratulated the Chairman and members of the Council on their appointments and expressed confidence that they would perform based on their track records.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Rt. Hon. Agwu, expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the confidence reposed on them.

He assured the Governor and the people of Abia State that the Council would work in line with the vision of Governor Otti to achieve the desired transformation of the institution.
