Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has harped on synergy among leaders at all levels for dividends of democracy to become more visible and impactful in the lives of the people.

Otti stated this at Ohafia, during a mega empowerment programme organised by the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his constituents.

Represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, Otti said the empowerment by Hon Ibe Okwara Osonwa aligns perfectly with the vision of his administration, which is to move the people away from dependency and towards productivity, enterprise, and self-sufficiency.

“Let me also emphasise the importance of synergy in governance. When leaders at all levels collaborate with sincerity of purpose, the dividends of democracy become more visible and impactful in the lives of our people.

“This programme is deliberately designed to help our people help themselves. It is about empowering individuals with the means to generate income, build businesses, and become contributors to the economic growth of their communities.

“When people are given the right tools and opportunities, they are better positioned to lift themselves out of poverty and, in turn, uplift others,” Otti said.

Otti lauded Hon Osonwa, for providing minibuses, motorcycles, freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, and other tools, adding that he was equipping his constituents not just to survive, but to thrive.

Speaking earlier, Hon Osonwa said a total of 556 people from his constituency were given various types of tools and equipment to enable them work and earn a decent living and also become employers of labour instead of job seekers.

The beneficiaries, he revealed, were carefully selected from various wards across the federal constituency, pointing out that recipients cut across artisans like tailors, vulcanisers, food vendors, mechanics, drivers etc.

He added that the tools would help in minimising their burden, especially during these hard times.

The lawmaker further informed that over 1000 bags of rice were also distributed to the communities in his constituency.
