Governor Alex Otti has given visiting American entrepreneurs the green light to invest in Abia, saying there was no better place currently for entrepreneurship and investment than the state.
Governor Otti stated this when he received in audience a delegation of the US Market Access Center (USMAC), led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chris Burry.
He said the State Government was happy to partner the company to harness the potentials and human energy existing in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the State.
“The proposal of the company is in line with the vision of this administration.
“When you talk of technology, that’s where we are heading to. If it is about entrepreneurship, innovation, I think you have come to the best place.
“There is no better place, if you are talking about entrepreneurship, if you are thinking of investment, that is better than Abia state.
Otti requested the team to visit Aba where he said there is abundance of skilled manpower, to see things for themselves, saying that he wants their findings to be evidence based.
“I want it to be evidence based. So, go to Ariaria, go to other markets in Aba, you will see things for yourself. We need to come from evidence point of view”, Governor Otti declared.
The Governor urged the team to interface with the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr. David Kalu and members of the Governor’s team in charge of technology to work with the US Market Access Center (USMAC) and come up with recommendations on how best to collaborate with them.
He maintained that the administration was in a hurry to develop the potentials in Abia and thereby create wealth and lift the people out of poverty, hence, it always accepts credible prospective investors and partners.
Leader of the delegation and Chief Executive Officer of USMAC, Mr. Chris Burry had earlier told the Governor that Abia was the first State the team was visiting with its proposal because of the innovations the Governor is bringing in the State.
He expressed their interest to invest in entrepreneurship development and skills acquisition. He said that the company wants to collaborate with Abia State Government in various technological areas with opportunities including entrepreneurship education, skills acquisition among others.
