Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has openly defended his use of traditional spiritual practices, stating that his involvement in juju is strictly for personal success, not for harmful purposes.
Osupa made the remarks during a performance at the 52nd anniversary celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, where he pushed back against suggestions that he should distance himself from such beliefs.
“Somebody told me one time to grant an interview, denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him that I am. I didn’t kill anyone with my juju or commit evil. I am only looking for how to progress. Nothing more,” he said.
Osupa explained that his spiritual routine remains a consistent part of his daily life, describing it as a personal source of strength.

“That’s why anytime I wake, I always pay obeisance to my Ifa. Everybody practises voodoo. While some hide behind the scenes, I do mine in the open. All those talks that I rely solely on the Bible and the Quran are pure lies,” he added.
Viral clips from the event also showed the singer advising his backup performers to embrace similar practices to enhance their stage performance and memory, stressing that such rituals are not inherently harmful.
His comments have since stirred conversation online, highlighting ongoing debates around tradition, spirituality, and public perception within Nigeria’s entertainment space.
