From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
A forensic expert and statistician called by Governor Ademola Adeleke, Samuel Oduntan, has told the Osun State election petition tribunal hearing the alleged discrepancies in the July 16 governorship election that he discovered over-voting in only six polling units in the disputed Local Governments.
This is just as Adeleke tendered his results obtained in the United States and nine photographs showing him in a graduation gown.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is challenging alleged over-voting in 749 polling units in 10 local governments.
The expert witness, who was led in evidence by Adeleke’s counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu, said he did a physical inspection of the BIVAS machine opened for him by INEC and from the EC8 series.
During cross-examination by the lead counsel to the petitioners, Akin Olujimi, the witness said he did not officiate as a presiding officer in the election and he did not use any of the BIVAS machines during the election.
He admitted that on page 25 of exhibit RBVR, ward 4, unit 7 Ede South, the accreditation figure is 313, saying “in my witness statement, the same unit, I have 388 as several accreditations.”
Also, the Personal Assistant to Adeleke, Samuel Bunmi-Jenyo, tendered the results obtained by Adeleke in Atlanta Metropolitan College and photographs taken during the convocation.
The witness who said he attended the convocation, said his principal has not been convicted for forged documents by any court.
However, during cross-examination, he admitted that his passport does not indicate that he went for convocation, and the difference between the Atlanta Metropolitan College Certificate of August 9, 2021, and the diploma obtained on July 16, 2021, is about 24 days.
The tribunal led by Justice Tertsea Kume, adjourned to January 13, 2023 for the adoption of the final written address.
