Ataoja School Of Science, Osogbo and Orolu Commercial High School, Ifon Osun will square things up in the official kick-off of the maiden Schools’ Sport Foundation Osun State Governor’s Cup.
According to the Organizing Committee the match is billed for 10am on Tuesday at Ataoja Sports Complex, Osogbo.
Kola Adewusi, Osun State Deputy Governor- Commissioner for Sports, and Osun State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, are the guests of honour.
With a theme: ‘Catching Them Young’s, the tournament sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, is geared towards discovering football talents from the secondary schools in the state and providing a career pathway for them.
Six Zones, made up of Ilesa Zone, Ikirun Zone, Ife Zone, Ede Zone, Iwo Zone and Osogbo Zone will host the Zonal Qualifiers, as the schools for the Zonal Matches, Ilesa Grammar School Ilesa, Odo Grammar School Okuku, Ife Anglican Grammar School Ife, Ede High School Ede, Oluwo Stadium Iwo and Ataoja School Of Science Osogbo.
The Organizing Committee explained further that six (6) top teams will qualify from the zones to the quarter-finals while two Best Losers will be picked to complete eight (8).
Osogbo is expected to host the knockout rounds and the grand finale.
