Osun residents lament high gas prices

Osun residents lament high gas prices

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

Residents of Osun State have lamented high price and scarcity of gas in the state.

Our Correspondent observed that only few stations have the product in Osogbo, the state capital.

Speaking with The Sun at one of the filling stations, Mrs. Romoke Adeoye lamented that people have to stay for hours to buy gas despite the high price.

She said, “The price is expensive but since we don’t have choice, we have to buy. The disgusting part of it is that you cannot get it in less than one hour because you have to stay more than 30 minutes where you will pay and stay for another 30 minutes, or more, where they will attend to you.

“It is unfortunate that we have to suffer for everything in this country, if electricity.

“We were buying gas at N1,000 before when many Nigerians could not afford it. It is now N1,200 here and this is where we can get the cheapest price in the entire state capital. It is unfortunate!”

A man who simply identified himself as Mayowa lamented that the price of gas is too much compared to the salary of workers.

He said, “If I’m buying 12kg of gas every months at the rate of N1,200 per kg, and I will pay house rent, transport fare, buy food, with the present salary, it does not worth it.

“I came here from a far place because they are selling N1,700 in my street and I cannot afford it.

“Help us beg the government to make life easy for the masses. We are not contesting other entitlement like house allowance, car allowance and other allowances they share among themselves. Let us enjoy basic amenities and make lives bearable for us.”
