Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced a reduction in work hours for public servants in observance of the Ramadan and Lent seasons.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday, the governor explained that this adjustment aims to support employees during the fasting period, adding that the new schedule will take effect from February 19, 2026.
Rasheed quoted a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, titled “Closure of Work during Ramadan and Lent Fasting Periods,” saying that public servants will now close work at 2 PM from Mondays to Thursdays and at 1 PM on Fridays during this period.

“This gesture is to enable public servants sufficient time to pray for the existing peace and tranquility in the state, particularly as we approach the gubernatorial elections later this year,” Rasheed said.
It was also emphasized that personnel in essential services, particularly medical staff, are excluded from this arrangement due to the critical nature of their duties.
He urged all political office holders and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to comply and disseminate the information widely among their staff to ensure smooth implementation of the new work hours.
