Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed criticism of his public dancing, saying his opponents are attacking the hobby out of jealousy because they cannot dance.
Adeleke spoke on Tuesday at the ARISE Town Hall held in Osogbo, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The governor said he remained a serious and prudent person while carrying out his official duties, stressing that dancing was simply a personal hobby.
“Dancing is a hobby. That doesn’t disturb and affect my work. Go and check it. You will know how much I’ve done,” Adeleke said.
He also mocked his critics over their inability to dance, saying, “They are jealous of me because they cannot dance in the first place.”
Adeleke explained that his public persona should not be confused with how he conducts official business, noting that there was a time for entertainment and another for governance.

“Now, when you come to my office, I’m a very prudent person. And I’m a very serious person. There’s time for everything. There’s time to dance and there’s time to walk,” he said.
The governor maintained that his dancing would not stop him from carrying out his responsibilities, insisting that his performance in office should be judged by his record rather than his personal hobby.
“Nobody, I repeat, nobody will stop me from dancing,” he added.
Adeleke also expressed confidence in his chances of winning Saturday’s election, saying the achievements of his administration would speak for themselves.
“My people love me,” the governor said.
