Osun police arrest 25 suspected kidnappers, robbers, cultists

Osun State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. Commissioner of Police, Mr.  Ibrahim Gotan, said:  “We have checked criminals out of the state.  I commend my officers for their professionalism, bravery, and dedication to duty, and together we will continue to make Osun State peaceful and safe.

“Police Rapid Response Unit [PRU] arrested 10 suspected, dreadful multi-fasted criminal gang members terrorising citizens at Minnea Polls Lounge, Moro, Ife North LG. The suspects were involved in cultism, kidnapping and thuggery.

“Operatives of the Anti-Thuggery Squad arrested three suspects while on routine township patrol within Osogbo metropolis in Oke-Ola Street, Oja Oba. Police Ife Division arrested 12 suspected notorious cult members of the Eiye Confraternity who invaded Kajogbola, Iree.

“Also, Police Iragbiji Division, arrested two suspects at Oja–Oba Square and recovered of one locally made cut-to-size pistol loaded with a line of cartridges and UTC axe.

“Anti-Cultism Squad arrested another three suspects terrorising residents of Akede, Oke–Baale Osogbo, and recovered dangerous weapons. Operatives arrested 22-year-old suspect known as “Killer” and a member of Buccaneers alleged to be involved in cult related violence in Ile-Ife and Iree. We recovered two cut-to-size guns and live cartridges.”
