Suspected bandits have launched a violent invasion in Ora Igbomina, located in the Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State, causing chaos and fear among residents and travellers.
During the attack on Monday night, the assailants reportedly targeted Akisa Road, where they kidnapped Prince Owolabi, a former Customs officer, from his home. The community was plunged into panic as gunfire erupted throughout the operation.
Tragically, the leader of non-indigenes in the area was killed during the assault, intensifying the sense of fear and insecurity among residents.
Additional reports indicated that travellers along the Oteere Ila/Ora Road were shot at by the bandits as they attempted to escape, resulting in multiple injuries and prompting motorists to abandon the route.

Local security guards and community vigilantes tried to repel the attackers and protect residents but were outmatched by the heavily armed intruders.
The people of Ora Igbomina have called on the Osun State Government and security agencies to bolster security in the region. They requested more patrols, increased deployment of security personnel, and decisive measures to secure the safe return of the abducted Customs officer while preventing further attacks.
Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that efforts are underway to rescue the kidnapped victim. He noted the increased police presence in the area and stated that, after the incident, police operatives and volunteers pursued the assailants.
“One person was shot, but not within Osun. The location of the shooting falls within Kwara State,” Ojelabi said.
