The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday alleged that some political thugs have been imported from Lagos and lodged in hotels because of the Saturday governorship election in Osun State.
A statement signed by the PDP Chairman Caretaker Committee, Dr Akindele Adekunle, and made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, alleged that the state has been witnessing an influx of armed men and women whose sole goal is to violently disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election.
Adekunle accused the APC of being behind the importation of thugs and urged the police to urgently act and arrest the situation.
“We repeat the call of our governorship candidate for an urgent review of security architecture for the election. We call on the security agencies to conduct security audits and mapping of the state before the Saturday elections.
“The security agencies should not wait until citizens resort to self-help before the menace of party thugs is nipped in the bud,” the statement added.
