Osun guber: Accord Party approves electoral guidelines for primaries

The Accord Party National Executive Committee (NEC) has approved the electoral guidelines for the forthcoming Osun State gubernatorial primaries.

Its national publicity secretary Joseph Omorugbe, in a communique yesterday, said the NEC approved the constitution of a caretaker committee for the Osun State chapter with Victor Akande as chairman, following the expiration of the tenure of its leadership.

Omorugbe also stated that the NEC lifted the suspension of some members in Osun State.

Additionally, he said the NEC passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem as national chairman of the party and reiterated that there is no faction in the party at any level.

Omorugbe added that the NEC approved the constitution of women and youth directorates at the national, zonal, state, local government, ward and polling unit levels of the party to facilitate membership drive and grassroots mobilisation of citizens across the country.

He said, “Accord held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, at Nixon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, attended by all the 36 state and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chairmen, all the National Working Committee (NWC) members, and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). After extensive deliberations, the following resolutions were made:

“NEC lifted the suspension of some members in Osun State in the spirit of its motto: Oneness and Progress, as it prepares for the gubernatorial election in the state.

“NEC passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem as national chairman of our great party and reiterated that there is no faction in the party at any level.

“NEC approved the constitution of a caretaker committee for the Osun State chapter with Pastor Victor Akande as chairman, following the expiration of the tenure of its leadership.

“NEC approved the electoral guidelines for the forthcoming Osun State gubernatorial primaries.

“NEC constituted the electoral committee for the 2026 Osun State governorship primaries and expressed confidence that the party would win the election.

“NEC approved a general waiver for numerous Nigerians who recently joined our great party, Accord, and desire to contest elections on its platform.

“NEC approved the constitution of women and youth directorates at the national, zonal, state, local government, ward and polling unit levels of the party to facilitate membership drive and grassroots mobilisation of citizens across the country.

“NEC urged members to remain focused, loyal and patriotic, and not be distracted by the activities of reactionary forces as Accord has been repositioned and strengthened to win future elections in the quest for sustainable democracy in Nigeria,” he added.
