The Osun State government has confirmed the arrest of over 100 suspected terrorists who stormed the state for alleged bomb-making training.

The suspects were reportedly arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

They were said to have entered the state without travelling documents and allegedly engaged in bomb-making training.

A security source said the suspects were arrested and taken away by immigration officers.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the suspects were arrested over a week ago and that the government has taken the normal steps on the matter.

He said the issue was not disclosed earlier because the government had been proactive in the arrest of suspected terrorists and other criminals.

He said: “100 foreigners were arrested weeks ago before the arrest of suspected members of ISWAP in Ilesa. We are on top of the security situation, and our residents should not panic.

“The governor, including our Service Chiefs, are on top of the security situation in the state. We are equally rejigging the Amotekun Security outfit to be more effective,” Alimi said.
