No fewer than 295 suspects were arrested for various offences during Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, the police have confirmed.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Ani Iniedu disclosed that 293 of the suspects have been released on bail following screening while two remain in custody pending further investigation and prosecution.

The police image-maker said, “295 suspects were arrested during the election, and 293 have been released on bail after screening. So we have two of them in custody for prosecution.”

The police had warned political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders against violence, intimidation and thuggery during the polls.

The police also warned against ballot snatching, voter intimidation, vote buying and clashes among supporters of rival political parties.

In a statement, Iniedu said anyone who attempted to disrupt the electoral process would face the full weight of the law.
