The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
According to INEC, the figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, leaving 426,842 PVCs, or 18.50 per cent, uncollected.
In a statement on Thursday, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the uncollected cards had been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with the commission’s established practice.
The commission also disclosed that 6,101 people whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost and who applied for replacements had printed downloadable copies of their voter cards.

INEC said it had published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs on its website.
The commission further assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election on Saturday, August 15.
The Osun governorship election will take place across the state’s 30 local government areas, with voters choosing among candidates seeking to lead the state for the next four years.
