The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will defeat the incumbent governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke, in the Osun State governorship election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said Adeleke’s performance in office had been disappointing, particularly in the health and education sectors.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS, Morka described the governor’s record as “very dismal” and argued that his performance had left him vulnerable to defeat at the polls.
“Governor Adeleke’s record has been very lackluster. Governor Adeleke has been very dismal in his performance as governor. Pick one sector: is it the health sector that’s in shambles, or is it the education sector?”
Morka said the APC candidate had continued to gain support from key stakeholders and institutions across the state, which he described as an indication of growing acceptance ahead of the election.
“So I think Governor Adeleke is utterly defeatable because he has not done well, and that is obvious in Osun. Look at even just the last few weeks—the number of institutions and key stakeholders who have endorsed Oyebamiji, the APC candidate for this election.”
He expressed confidence that voters would ultimately determine the outcome of the contest through their assessment of the candidates and their records.
“I think the results will come out, and on Saturday, they will give their verdict.”

Morka also condemned the violence reported in parts of Osun ahead of the election, calling for anyone responsible for perpetrating or inciting violence to be brought to justice.
He stressed that the APC did not support violence and maintained that the party was relying on its record and campaign message to win voters’ support.
“We at the APC totally condemn all of the acts of violence that we’ve witnessed in Osun in the lead-up to this election.”
The APC spokesman urged security agencies to investigate the incidents and prosecute anyone found to have participated in or encouraged acts of violence.
He also called on all political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and allow voters to make their choice freely.
Morka said he expected the Osun election to be free, fair and credible, expressing confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to carry out its responsibilities.
“I expect it to be free and fair, and I expect it to be credible. INEC is determined to do its job as appointed by law.”
He further urged Osun residents not to be deterred by reports of violence, but to turn out and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
