The Osun State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have engaged in allegations and counter-allegations over the planned visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, in a statement on Friday, alleged that the APC is calling a protest to blackmail the Accord Party and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He urged the public to disregard the alleged plot, vowing that the government will not fall prey to any clandestine act or action aimed at causing a total breakdown of law and order.
“Sequel to a one-day visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Osun State tomorrow, Osun State government has uncovered a sinister planned protest by the opposition APC in the state to carry out a self-sponsored protest to cause a breakdown of law and order with a view to blackmailing Osun ACCORD/PDP as the mastermind.
“As a government, we wish to let members of the public, particularly the peace-loving people of Osun, be wary of this grand plan already put in place and waiting to be hatched tomorrow (Saturday) while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visits Osun state.
“We want to make it clear that neither ACCORD nor PDP in Osun State has anything to do with the planned protest, notwithstanding the ongoing logjams associated with the withheld LG allocation of the state,” Alimi said.

They urged the people to steer clear of the venue of the president’s visit, stressing that the defection of Senator Fadahunsi, Senator Ajagunla, Hon Wole Oke, Hon Bimbo Ajilesoro and Hon Ominrin, among others to be formally inaugurated into the Osun APC fold on Saturday, are mere political paper tigers who the people of Osun State will surely disappoint during the coming election.
The Director of Media and Publicity of APC, Kola Olabisi, described the allegations as “gibberish, baseless and an unfounded allegation.
“The allegation of Governor Adeleke that our members are planning to protest against the state visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not only spurious, but it is a confirmation that the governor and his political co-travellers have lost it irredeemably.
“Members of the public and our members and supporters should discountenance the unsubstantiated allegation of Governor Adeleke and his ilk, as it is a product of fabrication and a figment of the imagination of those who composed it.
“Our advice is that the state commissioner of police and other statutory security agencies should keep watch on Governor Adeleke and his cohorts, as they are fond of accusing others of their devilish intention.
“We have taken notice of the fact that things have not been the same with Governor Adeleke since we refused him the opportunity to join our party, as there is absolutely nothing he can bring to the table.
“Adeleke is envious and fearful of the defecting National Assembly members of the PDP to our party because it signifies his imminent loss of the forthcoming 8th August 2026 governorship,” Olabisi said.
