Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been conferred with the Asiwaju of Edeland, a chieftaincy title held last by his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
The Chairman Planning Commmittee of the installation, Senator Lere Oyewumi, who disclosed this at a press conference in Ede, on Sunday, explained that the installation would hold Monday together with the 64th birthday anniversary of Adeleke.
He disclosed that eminent personalities have been invited to also launch the ultra-modern palace of the Timi of Ede.
According to Oyewumi, forrmer President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, the Chief Executive Officer of Bovas Petroleum, Mrs Victoria Samson, are the expected guests.
“As a way of recall, the last occupant of the highly prestigious, traditionally important and culturally symbolic title of Asiwaju of Ede land, until his death in 2017, was no any other person than the first civilian Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, who was the elder brother to the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who is about to step into the shoes of that title by the special grace of God.
“At the colourfully symbolic installation tomorrow (Monday), which coincides with His Excellency’s 64th birthday, His Royal Majesty, the Timi of Ede land, Oba ( Dr) Munirudeen Adesola Lawal who is also the royal host will lead an array of members of Timi-In-Council of Ede to confer the honourary chieftaincy title on his son, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
