Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed all categories of public servants in the state to stay off their duties today and use the opportunity for the collection of their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs).
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said the affected categories of workers also include local government staff, tertiary institutions, among others.
He noted the a circular has been issued across the public service by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, to that effect.

He further explained that the work-free day approval was to enable public servants perform their civic obligation during the August 15 gubernatorial and future elections in the State.
The circular noted that those on essential duties like medical workers, security staff etc are advised to make necessary arrangements among themselves in this regard so as not to have negative consequences on the lives of the citizenry.
Governor Adeleke urged public servants and other informal workers to collect their voter cards as urgently as possible, reminding the public of how critical next month’s election is to the state and her future.
“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voters card is your licence to the ballot paper and by extension to the ballot box,” Adeleke said.
