Osun ADC chairmen pass vote of confidence in Omidiji ahead of 2026 poll

The Forum of Local Government Chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the state chairman of the party, Dr Charles Omidiji.

This is even as the forum expressed its readiness to work for the victory of the governorship candidate of the party in the August 8 gubernatorial election, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam.

Also, the forum canvassed for the nomination of a strong stalwart of the party, Hon (Mrs) Temitope Yemisi Agiri, as the running mate to Salaam, saying that the choice of Mrs Agiri would boost the chances of the party.

Rising from their end-of-year meeting attended by all the local government chairmen of the party in the 30 local government areas of the state, the forum declared its belief in the leadership of Dr Omidiji.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, signed by the forum’s chairman, Hon Olufemi Famoyin; secretary, Comrade Awoniyi Bidemi; and the Public Relations Officer, Hon Onigbogi Timilehin, the forum expressed confidence in the ability of Omidiji to lead the party to victory come August 8, 2026.

Describing Omidiji as a leader with political sagacity, native intelligence and leadership acumen needed to muster the party and strengthen it, the forum declared that Omidiji is endowed with the needed knowledge which will be useful for the party ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election.

Besides, the forum said its members spread across the local governments in the state are ready to work assiduously for the victory of Rt Hon Najeem Salaam and ensure that ADC wins the governorship polls.

According to the communiqué, the forum members, who are majorly grassroots politicians with strong grassroots base, will stop at nothing to ensure the victory of Salaam in the election.

The group also called on all the leaders and stakeholders of the party to choose Hon (Mrs) Temitope Yemisi Agiri as the deputy governorship candidate of the party, stressing that the woman politician is blessed with all the needed knowledge and strength to serve the state.

Mrs Agiri, who hails from Ila-Orangun in Ila Local Government Area of Osun State, is said to be a grassroots politician who can deliver if given the opportunity to serve in the capacity of a deputy governor.

The forum enjoined all members of the party to embrace the choice of Mrs Agiri as the deputy governorship candidate in the interest of the party and the overall interest of the state.
