The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has declared his support to the Chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi.

Speaking at his palace with some traditional rulers including the Akire of Ikire-Ile, Oba Abdulazeez Adebamiji, yesterday, Oluwo called on communities in the area to support the project and ensure the emergence of Ogunbiyi.

He said, “Iwo, Ileogbo, Kuta, and other surrounding towns are one. We cannot function in isolation. We must all work together for the progress of our communities. Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi is our son in Iwo, and I pray that Almighty God who installs a governor will make him the next governor of Osun State.

“We must all be involved in politics. Every human being must be involved. We don’t have any other person we will support other than our son, Akin Ogunbiyi.

“We have nothing and the only way we can salvage the situation is for our children to occupy good positions.

“People have come out to show interest from different places, but since my own son has come out, he is the one I will support.

“When Tinubu came out to contest in 2023, I supported him because he is a Yoruba man and I can’t go for another candidate who is not the son of the soil,” Oluwo said.

Akin Ogunbiyi said he was at Oluwo palace to seek royal blessing and support, promising not to disappoint the zone if allowed to represent the party.

“I’ve come to seek royal blessing and I want the monarchs to stand with me. Oluwo has the influence and I believe if he support anything, it will be successful.

I want to contest the governorship and I need support of the monarchs. Help us talk to whoever you can talk to and I will be a good representative of Iwo,” Ogunbiyi said.
