Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, has predicted that more people would soon leave the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2026 governorship election in the state.

The prediction came on the heels of the resignation from the PDP of the member representing Obokun/Oriade federal consistency in the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke.

According to Odeyemi, people who love the progress of the state who are currently in the ruling PDP would not sit back and fold their arms to watch governance degenerate to mere entertainment as is currently the case in Osun State.

The NNPP chairman’s remarks were contained in a statement he made available to Daily Sun.

Adeyemi further stated in the statement that “nobody with a right conscience will believe things are going well in terms of governance since the Governor Adeleke-led administration took over the affairs of Osun State.

“It should be partially believed that the intention of Gov Adeleke in aspiring to lead Osun was good but he’s surrounded with bootlickers that are hungry for power rather than good governance for all.”

Continuing, the NNPP chairman lamented that “Adeleke has surrounded himself with bootlickers that find it difficult to look up to him and advise him rightly.

“Some of them do not even care about the development of Osun State. All they do is to praise-sing in his presence and tell people another fairy tales behind him.

“When a person in power lacks good advisers, he will assume he has been doing all things rightly. You don’t surround yourself with mediocre and expect positive result. “These bootlickers see everybody as an enemy of the government and respond immaturely to criticism about governance, whereas their low-life wouldn’t allow them to realise on time that failure of the leader spells doom for them.

“I won’t blame Wole Oke for leaving the PDP. One thing that is very sure is that before the year runs out, more people with conscience will leave that party because many of them are presently suffering and smiling, they are just buying time.

“I wish the party knows what is about to befall it. Those that will leave the party openly are few compared to those that will stay to destabilise it in the state”
