From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has expressed confidence in his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that mechanisms are in place to maintain party unity after the December 13 governorship primary election in Osun State.
Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo yesterday during the 5th edition of the mega empowerment initiative and presentation of grants and loans on Saturday, Badmus emphasised the importance of giving back to the community.
He announced that over 1,000 residents of Osun State have benefited from grants and loans aimed at women entrepreneurs, traders, and artisans in the Osogbo Federal Constituency.
He said the beneficiaries were given N20,000 as loans while each of them also received N20,000 as grants so as to extend the benefit to other members.
“This event is organised to encourage women involved in small-scale businesses by providing grants that will support their ventures,” he stated. He noted that this edition has already seen over 1,000 individuals benefit from the initiative, with plans to expand in the future.

“I am confident that the party leadership is working diligently to ensure that all gubernatorial aspirants are united before, during, and after the primary,” he said.
“We have a leadership structure that understands the dynamics and how to utilise them for the benefit of the party, ensuring it remains cohesive after the primary.”
Comrade Amitolu Shittu, a chieftain of the APC and former commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, praised Badmus for his philanthropic efforts. He urged other leaders to follow suit and promote President Tinubu’s initiatives by uplifting their communities.
Shittu commented, “Governors should be doing what Badmus is doing because Tinubu is providing them with funds. Nigeria will be better if the governors actively spend these resources for the benefit of their citizens.”
