Former Senator Mudashiru Husain, who served in the 7th Nigerian Senate, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 Osun State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Husain expressed confidence in unseating incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke if chosen as the APC flagbearer.

In a statement by his campaign media head, Victor Ojelabi, Husain highlighted his loyalty to the APC, noting how he sacrificed his senatorial ambition in 2014 to support the late Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola’s elder brother, for the Osun West senatorial seat.

“I defeated Isiaka Adeleke in 2011 to become a senator, but conceded my ticket to him in 2014 at the party’s urging, which later benefited Ademola Adeleke when he joined the PDP,” Husain said.

He added, “I have the capacity and experience to lead Osun State. I’m ready to unseat Ademola Adeleke and restore purposeful governance under the APC.”
