The former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Benedict Alabi, has expressed confidence that he would emerge the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said wether the party decide to go for primary or consensus, his experience would speak for him and he would be considered by the party.

He stated this in Osogbo when the Osun Ajose Foundation, a sociopolitical group, presented the N50 million governorship nomination form to him.

Alabi expressed gratitude for the group’s confidence in him and assured them that he would not let them down if elected governor. He pledged to create an inclusive government, welcoming participation from all sectors of society.

“The promise of Osun is a promise of opportunity for all. To fulfill this promise, we must open doors for everyone—the youth seeking prosperity, entrepreneurs building businesses, farmers cultivating land, teachers shaping the future, and civil servants contributing to our state,” Alabi declared.

He emphasized his vision for an enabling environment where hard work is rewarded and innovation is encouraged, saying, “This is not just a political promise; it embodies my governance philosophy. We aim to establish a vibrant economy where human potential can flourish and prosperity is shared broadly.”

Alabi expressed commitment to running a transparent government, pledging to leverage technology for clear accountability in public procurement and revenue collection, ensuring that every naira of public funds is utilized for the common good.

Badmus Opeyemi, who spoke on behalf of Director General of Osun Ajose Foundation, Moruf Adekunle, explained that the group’s initiative stemmed from the positive impact Alabi had during his tenure as deputy governor.

“This political movement has been active within the progressive fold. Alabi has significantly benefitted the youth during his time in office, and we believe supporting his ambition is the best way to show our appreciation. We contributed to purchase this form for him; it’s a way of giving back for all he has done,” Opeyemi said.

Echoing this sentiment, Ishola Kehinde urged party leaders to consider Alabi as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, assuring that his candidacy would lead the party to victory in the 2026 election.
