Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has raised concerns over the presence of the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Pauline Ugonyeka, in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Davido made his concerns known in a post on his X page, questioning why Ugonyeka was in Osun State, alleging that she was not deployed to the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The singer also alleged that Ugonyeka was sent to Osun State by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, with an intention to influence the outcome of the election.
In his post, Davido wrote: “Mrs Pauline Ugonyeka REC Ebonyi State. She was not deployed by @inecnigeria. What is she doing in Osun! She was sent here from Gov Hope Uzodinma to rig! We will resist you Madam!!”
The allegation comes ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with political parties and their supporters intensifying preparations for the poll.
Davido’s comments have drawn attention to the activities of electoral officials ahead of the election, particularly the deployment and movement of RECs across states.
However, the allegations made by the singer against Ugonyeka, Uzodimma and INEC had not been independently established in the post.
INEC is responsible for conducting and supervising elections across Nigeria, including the deployment of electoral officials for governorship polls.
Davido has in recent years remained vocal on political and electoral issues in Nigeria, using his social media platforms to express his views on developments concerning elections and governance.
His latest remarks have therefore added to the growing public discourse surrounding preparations for the Osun 2026 governorship election.
