Osun 2026: ADC candidate Salaam seeks royal blessing, local support

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election, Dr Najeem Salaam, visited his hometown yesterday to formally present himself to the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, and the local community.

In his address at the palace, Dr Salaam emphasised his commitment to inclusive development and responsible leadership should he be elected.

He recognised Ejigboland’s historical support for governorship candidates across Osun State, urging other towns to reciprocate by endorsing Ejigboland’s ambition to produce the next governor.

As the Oluomo of Ejigboland, Dr Salaam praised the current reign of the Ogiyan, noting that it has been a period of significant political and developmental achievements for the community.

“Since the ascension of the Ogiyan to the throne, Ejigbo has produced a Senator, a member of the House of Representatives, and two Speakers of the Osun State House of Assembly. It is now time for Ejigboland to produce a Governor,” he declared.

In response, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo expressed gratitude to Dr Salaam for his ambition, noting it brings honour to Ejigboland. The monarch offered prayers for Dr Salaam’s success, highlighting the unity and goodwill surrounding him and the ADC as promising indicators of a positive journey ahead.
