One person has reportedly been killed in an attack by suspected cultists at Orita Elelede, Osogbo, Osun State, on Sunday. The victim, identified as Kazeem Oyebamiji, also known as Mosquito, was attacked while riding a motorcycle with his friend.

Eye eyewitness account revealed that the assailants, believed to be followers of Oyeyemi Olalekan (aka Emir), stripped the victim naked and killed him by smashing a large stone on his head. A second person riding with Oyebamiji managed to escape during the attack.

Reports indicate that the assailants also took the victim’s motorcycle. Olalekan is a member of the transport disciplinary committee, appointed on January 9, 2023, by Governor Ademola Adeleke. He is currently facing charges before the Federal High Court in Osogbo for offenses including public disturbance, murder, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police spokesperson in the state, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident, saying: We have deployed our men. We have identified some persons, and our monitoring team is pursuing them.”
